PAINTINGS IN THEIR ENVIRONMENT
PLACED ARTWORK SHOWN IN PRIVATE & PUBLIC SETTINGS
Art does not exist within a bubble. It changes the spaces that it occupies, and is altered by its surroundings. I like seeing how my paintings adapt to gallery and museum environments and to the more complex residential and corporate settings that they are often procured for. Below is a small sampling of placed artworks. Most of the images are snapshots taken by gallery installers or sent by collectors. A few are professional photos taken for interior designers to record projects.
Silver Bullet was purchased by a designer for placement in her own home. It is a great environment for showing the painting and the painting gives generously to the space.
Painted in 2023, Imprint was acquired by a collector for a specific residential space. The painting alters the environment considerably, and the space impacts the artwork. While the Painting adds both color & substance to the room, the cozy bedroom brings a greater warmth to the piece than was seen in a gallery or studio setting.
The professional framing of this painting (Hurrying Past) creates a bridge between the artwork and its environment. The colors of the piece harmonize with the space while adding texture and interest. The work is strong enough to hold its own next to the dramatic staircase while, at the same time, complimenting its environment This is an excellent example of marrying fine art and design.
102, an assemblage painting, is perfectly presented in this Yellowstone Club residence, perfectly complimenting the refined, architectural room.
Another Yellowstone Club space creates a perfect environment for FTT3, the third in my Forest Through the Trees series. The abstracted forest reference makes thematic sense in the wooded neighborhood without repeating the actual landscape.
Water Lillies, became the first abstract painting for this collector of representational works. Though photographed before framing, the piece adds a vibrant energy to the music room.
Strategies, in Rancho Santa Fe, California, is a large painting that soars towards the high ceilings of this beautifully designed space.
Gulch resides in a high end city salon. The collectors acquire fine art for their businesses as well as for their homes, elevating and defining both residential and corporate settings. The large scale of this piece redefines the space, creating a bold, sophisticated environment that is pleasant to linger in.
Canoe connects with the theme of this Deer Valley residence, while adding a contemporary twist.
Glacial Journey resides perfectly in this design office.
Stepping Stone adds both energy and calmness to this busy design office.
The dramatic setting of this beautiful Emigration Canyon home plays nicely with Starting in the Middle.
These complimentary abstracts (Rounded & Color Chart) invite the viewer to stop and explore in this Park City residence.
The Back to the Garden diptych stacked in this sophisticated Upper East Side residence creates a perfect communication between art & space. The paintings were exhibited at the Utah Musem of Fine Art before being privately acquired by these prolific collectors.
This Federal Heights mantle is a perfect setting for The Garden of Her Discontent, painted in 2012.
Art enhances the refinement of this beautiful Upper East Side home bar and brings a different perspective to my abstract painting. The piece was selected for this space because of its affinity with the Manhattan skyline.
Big Idea, 2023, makes a statement in this Park City powder room. I love good art in powder rooms, where it is closely observed for periods of time.
